College Tennis News - Virginia Sweeps Liberty and Morgan State

CHARLOTTESVILLE - The third-ranked Virginia men's tennis team concluded a season-opening four-match homestand Sunday by sweeping a doubleheader against Liberty and Morgan State. The Cavaliers (4-0) didn't drop a set in either match en route to 7-0 victories against both the Flames (2-1) and Bears (0-1).

"I was pleased with how the team stayed disciplined and focused throughout the day," said head coach Brian Boland. "They prepared well and played with a high level of professionalism. It was a good way to conclude a productive weekend."

Luca Corinteli (Alexandria, Va.) and Jonathan Cornish (London, England) recorded singles wins in both matches to lead the Cavaliers. Mitchell Frank (Annandale, Va.), Thai-Son Kwiatkowski (Charlotte, N.C.), J.C. Aragone (Yorba Linda, Calif.) and Mac Styslinger (Birmingham, Ala.) added wins against Liberty, while Ryan Shane (Falls Church, Va.), Collin Altamirano (Sacramento, Calif.), Alexander Ritschard (Zurich, Switzerland) and Henrik Wiersholm(Kirkland, Wash.) had wins against Morgan State.

The Cavaliers return to action on Saturday as they visit VCU. Match time in Richmond is 1 p.m.
