WHAT’S HAPPENING THIS WEEK

Schedule - The 45th-ranked Broncos are on the road for a pair of big matches against nationally rank opponents in Chicago this weekend. Boise State opens at 26^th-ranked Northwestern at 3:30 p.m. (Mountain) on Friday, then follows that with a neutral site encounter Saturday afternoon at 12:30 p.m. (Mountain) against No. 30 Harvard.
Location – Both contests this weekend will be played at Northwestern University’s Combe Tennis Center in Evanston, Ill., outside Chicago.
Last Year Vs. NU: Boise State and Northwestern played in Boise last year at the Boise Racquet and Swimming Club. The 32^nd-ranked Wildcats came away with a 5-2 victory over the No. 46 Broncos. Boise State won the doubles point then recorded one singles victory in the loss.

BRONCO LINEUP

Representing the Broncos this Spring are: Brian Foley (5-10 singles, 8-5 doubles), Abe Hewko (6-5 singles, 6-4 doubles), Toby Mitchell (7-3 singles, 7-4 doubles), Danny Moyer (3-3 singles, 1-1 doubles), Garrett Patton (6-4 singles, 7-5 doubles), Lewis Roskilly (6-6 singles, 8-3 doubles) and Thomas Tenreiro (5-7 singles, 2-2 doubles).

NEXT UP

Next week Boise State will travel to Las Vegas for a pair of matches against UC Irvine from the Big West Conference and UNLV in the Mountain West opener for the Broncos, both matches will take place on Saturday (Feb. 14).
The 45th-ranked Broncos are in the middle of five straight weeks on the road and will not play at home until the weekend of Feb. 27-March 1.

WEEK THREE STANDOUT – MW PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Last weekend the Broncos gained retribution against the No. 47 Pepperdine Waves on the road in Malibu, Calif., with a tight 4-3 win. The victory avenged a 4-2 loss to the Waves the previous weekend in Los Angeles at the ITA Kick-Off Weekend on the UCLA campus.
Bronco of the Week: Garrett Patton was clutch for the Broncos in their come from behind victory over the Waves winning both his singles and doubles matches.
Doubles: After Pepperdine had won the first doubles match of the day, Patton and doubles partner Toby Mitchellrallied the Broncos with a 6-4 victory on court one. Boise State eventually won the doubles point with a win on court two.
Singles: Boise State was forced to rally twice during the singles competition as the Waves claimed 2-1 and 3-2 advantages in the team score. After Brian Foley tied the team score up at three all it came down to Patton’s match on court two for the team victory. He rallied from a 6-1 set one loss to claim the second set and third sets to hand the Broncos the win with a 1-6, 6-4, 6-4 victory.
Player of the Week: Patton was named Mountain West Player of the Week on Wednesday (Feb. 4) following his performance at Pepperdine over the weekend.

ITA NATIOANAL RANKINGS

Boise State remained at No. 45 in this week’s ITA National rankings after defeating then No. 47 Pepperdine 4-3 in Malibu last Sunday (Feb. 1) in the Broncos’ lone match. The Broncos are tied for 45^th with the Alabama Crimson Tide.
The Broncos opened the season ranked 33rd.

ANOTHER TOUGH SCHEDULE

As usual Boise State has not shied away from a tough schedule in 2015 which features 28 matches.
Of the 28 matches, 20 will be against teams currently ranked in this week’s ITA Top-75 and one other (San Diego State) that has been ranked.
Included among the 19 ranked matches are the three contests at the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic in which Boise State does not know who it will play yet, however, all seven potential opponents are ranked: No. 25 South Florida, No. 28 Mississippi State, No. 34 Clemson, No. 36 Texas Tech (a potential rematch), No. 38 Auburn, No. 45 Alabama and No. 57 Princeton.
Mountain West members currently ranked are: No. 45 Boise State, No. 58 New Mexico, No. 70 Nevada and No. 73 Utah State, San Diego State was ranked the first two weeks of the season.
The Broncos are currently 0-2 versus nationally ranked teams this season.

QUICK LOOK AT BOISE STATE

The Broncos are currently 2-2 overall entering the weekend.
The Broncos went 28-5 overall and finished the year ranked 29th.
The first home match for Boise State is schedule for Feb. 27 versus both No. 54 Utah and No. 51 Penn. The Blue and Orange went 14-1 at home last season competing at both the Boas Indoor Tennis Center and the Appleton Outdoor Tennis Center.
Boise State finished the 2014 campaign ranked fourth nationally in total attendance, while the women came in at third.
So far this season the Broncos are 1-2 on the road, both on neutral courts. Boise State went 14-4 on the road in 2014.
Greg Patton is in his 19th season as head coach at Boise State where he is 410-152 overall in team duals, his career mark is 761-345 in 35 years.

DEFENDING MW CHAMPIONS

League Champions - Boise State is the three-time defending Mountain West Tournament champion and is undefeated in the event since joining the league for the 2011-12 season.
NCAA Tournament Participant - Boise State advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 2014 for the 17th time in school history and the ninth time in the last nine years.

ITA REGIONAL RANKINGS

Boise State has four players regionally ranked by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). Regional rankings come out once in the spring semester just before the season starts, they are based on fall results.
Singles: Senior Garrett Patton begins the 2015 dual season ranked ninth in the ITA Mountain Region, while junior Thomas Tenreiro is 10th.
Doubles: In doubles the team of junior Brian Foley and junior Toby Mitchell enter the spring ranked ninth in the region.

FOLLOW THE BRONCOS
