MONTGOMERY, Ala. (2/21/2015) – Brian Foley led Boise State with a straight-set singles victory on court four, but it was not enough as the Broncos fell 4-1 to No. 35 Auburn Saturday afternoon at the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic in Montgomery, Ala. Joining Foley in the win column was the doubles team of  Thomas Tenreiro and Lewis Roskilly who won their match on court two. Boise State battled the Tigers hard but in the end Auburn’s experience featuring three nationally ranked singles players was too much for the Broncos.  The Broncos moved to 3-7 on the year with one last contest in Alabama on the slate Sunday against the loser of the Alabama-Mississippi State match.

Tenreiro and Roskilly had the Broncos started off right to open the match winning the first doubles contest completed 6-2 over Auburn’s Joseph Van Dooren and Lukas Ollert on court two. The tandem is now 2-2 this semester in duals.

Auburn rallied to claim the doubles team point winning on courts one and three. Marko Krickovic and Oliver Plaskett tied the doubles score at 1-1 with a 6-2 victory over the Broncos’ Toby Mitchell and Garrett Patton on court one. That was followed with a tough 6-4 loss by Boise State’s Abe Hewko and Brian Foley to Auburn’s Maxime Hinnisdaels and Dante Saleh.

Singles opened with the Tigers claiming a 3-0 lead in the team score after wins on courts one and three. It began with a 6-2, 6-0 win by Auburn’s 79th-ranked Ollert over the Broncos’ Tenreiro at No. 1 singles. The second point came following a 6-0, 6-4 loss by Boise State’s Mitchell on court three to AU’s Hinnisdaels, ranked 109 nationally.

Boise State broke through with a team point following Foley’s straight-set victory on court four over Auburn’s Van Dooren by scores of 6-4, 6-0. The win gives Foley a 5-4 record in spring duals.

The final team point went to the Tigers when Garrett Patton went down to Krickovic, ranked 116 in the NCAA. Patton held a 5-2 lead in the first set but could not hold on as Krickovic rallied to win the match 7-5, 6-0.

The final two singles matches were stopped once the team victory was decided. At the time Roskilly had rallied on court five from one set down to force a third 4-6, 6-1. Hewko was down on court six 6-3, 5-4.
