WACO, Texas - In Tuesday's Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) team rankings, the Baylor men's tennis team rose three spots to No. 2 in the country for the first time since 2007.

The Bears are 11-2 on the year with all 11 victories coming against ranked opponents, including wins over five top-15 ranked teams in No. 6 Duke, No. 3 Virginia, No. 12 UCLA, No. 11 Virginia and No. 13 TCU.

The only two losses for Baylor have come against current No. 1 Oklahoma and current No. 4 Illinois.

BU had been ranked No. 5 for the past three weeks, after starting the year at No. 6 and then dropping to No. 10 for two rankings releases. However, Baylor has been in the top 10 for all eight sets of rankings in 2015.

The Bears were last No. 2 in the Jan. 30, 2007 edition of the rankings.

Baylor currently has three ranked singles players in No. 4 Julian Lenz, No. 29 Tony Lupieri and No. 36 Max Tchoutakian. The Bears also have three ranked doubles teams with No. 28 Lupieri and Felipe Rios, Lupieri and Mate Zsiga at No. 40 and Lenz and Diego Galeano ranked No. 77.

Baylor's combined ranking of No. 10 (BU women are ranked eighth) is tied for second-best in the country as USC has the lead with the Trojan men are No. 5 and the women are No. 4.

BU will have its first match as the No. 2 team with a road contest at No. 13 Mississippi Tuesday at 5 p.m.
