At Central Oahu Regional Park, in the opening round of the NCAA Tennis Tournament, the Lady Sea Warriors quickly dispensed of Grand Canyon University, 5-0. GCU finishes the season 6-9, while HPU (20-7) moves on to the second round.

HPU quickly wrapped up all three doubles matches. Lauren Shin and Ingrid Cseh paired up in the one match to top Stephanie Griffin and Marie-Carol Legros, 8-4. HPU closed doubles play with a commanding 3-0 lead.

In singles play, Nina Mihova and Ralitsa Pirdopska won the two and six matches, respectively, to grab the fourth and fifth points to get the win for the Sea Warriors. Mihova topped Griffin 6-0, 6-0 and Pirdopska topped Amanda Jackson, 6-0, 6-1.

HPU will take on UH-Hilo tomorrow, May 9 at 2:00 p.m. at Central Oahu Regional Park. The Lady Vulcans topped Cal State-LA earlier today to earn a berth to the second round. The winner of tomorrow’s match earns a trip to Houston, Texas and the NCAA Championships.
