The Montana State women’s tennis team posted a 6-1 win over Northern Colorado, Friday afternoon in Greeley. The win pushed MSU’s record to 8-8 overall and 4-1 in Big Sky Conference action- good for second place.

Montana State captured the opening doubles taking wins at No. 2 and 3. MSU’s No. 3 tandem of Laura Villegas and McKenzie Hilmer posted a narrow 9-7 decision over UNC’s Jill Kappel and Jennifer Whateley.

“We are in a good place right now,” said MSU women’s coach Denise Albrecht. “Northern Colorado is a very tough team, and to come into Greeley and get a victory really means something.”

After dropping the No. 1 singles match, the Bobcats stormed back capturing the next five matches all in straight sets.

“Our kids go out knowing they have a job to do,” Albrecht said. “They go out and get it done, running down every ball and playing smart.”

Montana State will host Northern Arizona, Friday, April 10 in the Bobcat-Anderson Tennis Center.
