The Pearl River Lady Wildcats made the long trip to northeast Mississippi but due to the time required to complete their first match of the day in Booneville at Northeast Mississippi Community College were unable to play the second scheduled match of the day with Itawamba Community College. Because of the distance and the time remaining in the season, the match will be unable to be rescheduled.
The Lady Wildcats, playing their first match with a new line up, had several close matches but couldn’t quite pull out the win, falling 3-6 to the Northeast Lady Tigers.
In doubles, at No.1 Kasey King of Purvis and Alyssa Wolfe of Foxworth teamed up but were defeated by Alexandra Kriss and Christina Puckett 8-4. At No.2, another newly paired team, Janae Norwood of Hattiesburg and Kristen Barber of Sandy Hook claimed their first win by defeating Cassondra Bishop and Chrisa Holley 8-4. At No.3 doubles, in the absence of Emily Leverett of Raymond, Brookes McInnis of Brooklyn stepped in to play with Kenyatta Epps of Yazoo City. The team was defeated by Cassidy Beasley and Joanna Austin 8-5.
In singles action, at No.1 King played close but fell 7-5, 7-5, to Puckett. At No.2, Norwood collected the second point of the day for the Lady Wildcats, defeating Kriss 6-4, 6-1. At No.3, Wolfe fell to Beasley 6-1, 6-3. Moving up again into the No.4 spot, Epps collected the final point of the day by defeating Bishop 6-0, 6-0, continuing her undefeated season. At No. 5, Barber fell to Holley 6-4, 6-1. At No.6, McInnis fell to Austin 6-4, 6-1.
The Pearl River Lady Wildcats will finally be at home again, Wednesday, March 31, taking on the Southwest Mississippi Community College Lady Bears at 10 a.m.
