TYLER, Texas - The Seminole State Men's tennis team achieved their program's first ever win over perennial NJCAA powerhouse Tyler Junior College last Thursday by a final score of 8-1. The Trojan men came out red hot in the dual match, by taking all three doubles matches by scores of 8-5 at #1, 8-3 at #2, and 9-8 at #3 doubles. The combo of Oliver Andersen/Corey Huggins at #3 doubles took TJC to a tie-breaker, and came out successful to send SSC up 3-0 going into singles play and giving them huge momentum.

In singles play, SSC proved to be almost as dominant. Seminole took five out of the six singles matches, and claimed the dual match win by a final score of 8-1. The only loss came at #3 singles, where Freshman Borislav Gacina lost a tough 6-3; 6-3 match.

"This dual match may be the sweetest win I have had so far at SSC," said Head Coach Brian Nelson. "Not only did we beat TJC so handily, but we did it at their home courts. TJC went into their locker room right before the match, to put on their 2010 National Champion shirts to play against us, but it did not bother our guys. Tyler had won the Men's NJCAA National Title last May. We are looking forward to a great year, and this was a nice way to start it!"
