Mobile, AL—Brigham Young University Hawaii’s Annie Hwang won the Division II singles title at the women’s USTA/ITA Small College Tournament today. Hwang defeated Barbora Krtickova of Armstrong Atlantic State 6-4, 6-0 to claim the crown.
After winning the Division II title, Hwang withdrew from the Small College Superbowl section of the tournament because of BYU-Hawaii’s commitment to not playing on Sunday. Had Hwang defeated her scheduled junior college opponent she would have advanced to the Small College Superbowl final which is scheduled to be played tomorrow. Hwang and her doubles partner Sherry Liu also withdrew from the Superbowl portion of the tournament in doubles for the same reason.
