College Tennis News - No. 21 Arizona State Downs Boise State 6-1

MALIBU, Calif. - The Boise State University women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to No. 21 Arizona State University Saturday afternoon in Malibu, Calif. The Sun Devils won the doubles point, then followed with five victories in singles to claim the win over the Broncos. Sandy Vo was the only Bronco to break through against Arizona State getting the win at No. 3 singles. The loss drops the Broncos to 5-4 on the year.

Arizona State took the doubles point sweeping all three pairs. The team of Cako/James handed the Broncos No. 1 pair an 8-3 loss, while Boise State's No. 2 doubles duo of Morgan Basil and Sandy Vo fell 8-1 and the No. 3 team of Kaitlyn Brown and Sonia Klamczynska lost 8-4.

Sophomore Sandy Vo was the only Bronco to win on Saturday defeating ASU's Hannah James by default. Vo won the first set 6-2 and was down 2-3 when James pulled out.

Sonia Klamczynska lost at the No. 1 singles in straight sets 6-2, 6-2 to Arizona State's No. 7 ranked Jacqueline Cako. Marlena Pietzuch fell at the second singles 3-6, 6-4, 10-7 to Michelle Brycki. The Broncos also dropped decisions at the No. 4 singles where Manuela Pietzuch lost 6-3, 6-2, No. 5 singles as Morgan Basil fell 6-3, 6-4, followed by Kaitlyn Brown at the No. 6 position 6-1, 6-0.

Boise State will return to action the weekend of March 3-4 when the Broncos host the University of Utah and University of Montana in a pair of regional match-ups at the Boas Indoor Tennis Center at Boise State.
