Georgetown College men's and women's tennis opened up new coach and alum Jessica Cunningham's era with a split with Marian University. The men won, 5-4, while the women lost, 8-1.

The day opened with men's doubles as GC swept the matches for the first points. Jose Baeza and Zach Thomas defeated Ryan Hodell and Andrew Voss, 8-6. Benjamin Aspillaga and Christopher Bartlett beat Nick Batuello and Will Dixon, 8-1. Gustavo Echeverria and Ross Phelps handed Mitchell Trammel and Michael Higdon an 8-3 loss.

In the singles competition, Baeza and Thomas went the full three sets to pick up wins, while Echeverria rolled in straight sets.

Baeza defeated Trammel, 7-6, 3-6, 6-0; Thomas defeated Batuello, 6-2, 3-6, 6-1; and Echeverria won 6-1, 6-2 over Dixon.

Carlos del Valle, Alec Lewis and Zach Howard all lost in straight sets to Marian's Voss, Austin Collier and Willie Jansen.

In the women's doubles, Haley Hart and Natalie Hill pushed Sarah Potter and Olivia Pursell before losing 8-4. Jacqueline Otis and Lauren Yates took three games from Hannah Knust and Aly O'Conner in an 8-3 loss, while Emily Krick and Shelby Eden lost to Brittney Horlacher and Lauren Paras 8-2.

Otis was the lone win for the women against Marian. She needed three sets to beat Pursell, 3-6, 6-2, 6-1. Hart fell to Horlacher, 7-6, 2-6, 6-3; Hill to Knust, 6-1, 6-1; Krick to Paras, 7-6, 6-0; Eden to Potter, 6-3, 6-2; and Mackenzie Hatfield to Katie Barrett, 6-1, 6-0.
