NOTRE DAME, Ind. - University of Notre Dame senior Blas Moros has been named the BIG EAST's Men's Tennis Player of the Week after going 2-0 in singles last weekend, the league office announced Tuesday.

Moros, who earns his first BIG EAST citation of his career, helped the Irish to a 2-1 record at last weekend's Blue Gray National Tennis Classic by going undefeated at three singles.

The Boca Raton, Fla., native started off his week just one game from clinching a straight set win over Troy's Sami Ghorbel. Moros was up 6-4, 5-2 before the match was called with Notre Dame earning the 4-0 victory.

The following day Moros took down Boise State's Scott Sears, 6-4, 6-3. He closed out his weekend with a 6-4, 6-1 win over then-No. 29 Cornell's Alex Sidney as the Irish took down the Big Red, 4-1

Moros is 8-4 this spring season splitting time between two and three singles.

Notre Dame has now won seven out of the nine BIG EAST awards this season as Moros follows his teammates Greg Andrews (three times), Billy Pecor (two times) and Quentin Monaghan (once) in earning the award.

Moros and his Irish teammates welcome in No. 3 USC to Eck Tennis Pavilion for a 4 p.m. match Wednesday.
