PORTLAND, Ore. – A quality effort on the court didn’t translate to a Northwest Conference team victory as the Linfield Wildcats fell 9-0 to the Lewis & Clark Pioneers Friday night at the L&C Tennis Pavilion.

All three doubles matches were closely contested and each was decided by an 8-4 count. L&C’s Daniel Hahm and Carter Gee-Taylor downed Linfield’s top tandem of Zachery Lyons (Sr., Vancouver, Wash.) and Lukas Kleinman (Soph., Vancouver, Wash.). The Pioneers’ Scott Monosmith and Cole Pfeiffer dropped Wildcats Micah Roos (Soph., Port Angeles, Wash.) and Tim Hawkins (Fr., Boise, Idaho) at No. 2 doubles. At No. 3, Lucas Fodor and Ryo Tokura prevailed over Alex Mangan (Fr., Klamath Falls, Ore.) and Robert Beezer (Fr., Gig Harbor, Wash.) were

The Pioneers swept the six singles pairings, all in straight sets. Hahm outpointed Lyons 6-2, 6-4 at No. 1, Gee-Taylor topped Roos, 6-2, 6-4 at No. 2, and Monosmith skated by Kleinman 6-2, 6-0 at No. 3. Tokura beat Joel Trousdale (Soph., Hillsboro, Ore.) 6-4, 6-3 at No. 4, Pfeiffer handed Hawkins a 6-0, 6-2 setback at No. 5, and Fodor was a 6-3, 6-2 winner over Mangan at No. 6.

“The effort was good, we just got outplayed,” said Wildcats coach Carl Swanson.

With the win, Lewis & Clark moved to 5-10 for the season, 4-6 in the NWC.

The loss prevented Linfield from securing its first win. The Wildcats dropped to 0-10 overall and in the NWC.

NEXT: Linfield returns home for a Saturday NWC contest against Pacific Lutheran. Match time is 1 p.m.
