LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - More than 110 women's collegiate tennis players will compete this week (Oct. 9-13) at the 2013 USTA/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Mountain Region Championships to be held at the Fertitta Tennis Complex on the UNLV campus.

This is the fourth consecutive year that the ITA women's event will be in town. Members from 19 western teams will face off as individuals from Wednesday through Sunday on 12 courts each day in both singles and doubles.

Last year's event saw second-seeded UNLV standout Aleksandra Josifoska win her second straight regional singles title, 6-3, 6-4 over third-seeded Sarah Pham of Utah. Josifoska is back this week as the top seed while teammate Lucia Batta, who won this tournament in 2010, is the second seed.

In doubles last year, the duo of Paige Miles and Tereza Berkova of Utah upset top-seeded and defending champions Veronica Popovici and Simona Synkova of Wyoming, 8-5.

This will be one of 24 USTA/ITA Regional Championships for NCAA Division I men and women taking place over these middle two weekends of October at campuses throughout the country. The singles and doubles champions will advance to the 2013 USTA/ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships, taking place November 7-10, at the indoor facilities at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, located in Flushing, N.Y.

Wednesday's first round gets under way with doubles at 9:00 a.m. PT and a full round of singles will follow. There will be consolation draws in both singles and doubles to ensure each entrant at least two matches.

The finals are set for Sunday. Admission to all matches is free of charge.
