FLUSHING, N.Y. -- The University of Michigan women's tennis team completed its strong showing at the ITA National Indoor Championships on Saturday afternoon (Nov. 9) at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

The doubles pair of sophomore Ronit Yurovsky (New Kensington, Pa./Plum) and junior Sarah Lee (Los Angeles, Calif./Campbell Hall) won its first two matches to advance to the quarterfinals before falling to Louisville's Julia Fellerhoff and Rebecca Shine. The U-M pair was making an appearance in the national tournament after winning the doubles crown at the ITA Midwest Regional Championships.

Michigan had another doubles pair in the 20-team draw, the No. 3-ranked duo of junior Emina Bektas (Indianapolis, Ind./New Braunfels) and senior Brooke Bolender (Delray Beach, Fla./Kaplan). The Maize and Blue pair fell in the first round of the draw but bounced back for a pair of victories in the consolation draw. Bektas and Bolender were appearing in the tournament by virtue of winning the backdraw at the ITA All-American in October.

Bektas and Yurovsky were also playing in the singles draw, as each Wolverine won one match when it was all said and done. Bektas won her first-round match against No. 38 Alex Cercone of Florida (7-6, 6-1) before falling to No. 7 Hayley Carter of North Carolina (6-2, 6-2), while Yurovsky fell to top-ranked Sabrina Santamaria (6-2, 7-5) of USC in the first round but did record a victory in consolation action with a three-set win (6-1, 5-7, 6-3) over Nadia Ravita of Kentucky.

Michigan has five other Wolverines in action at the ASU Thunderbird, which runs Nov. 8-10 in Tempe, Ariz.
