TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The seventh-ranked Alabama women’s tennis team continued its hot start to the 2015 regular season on Saturday, besting No. 20 TCU by a final score of 6-1 inside the Roberta Alison Baumgardner Tennis Facility. Playing their first extended action of the season, the Tide held a 5-0 lead before the Horned Frogs tallied their only point of the match.

The Crimson Tide has yet to surrender a doubles point this season, as #18 Erin Routliffe/Maya Jansen topped TCU’s Stefanie Tan/Seda Arantekin, 6-1, followed by an Emily Zabor/Danielle Spielmann victory to secure the point. Zabor and Spielmann began the match in a 3-0 hole before clawing back to defeat TCU’s strong pairing of Simona Parajova and Sofiko Kadzhaya, 6-4.

In singles action, Maya Jansen made quick work of Kadzhaya, 6-2, 6-4 on court 3 to give the Tide an early 2-0 lead. Zabor knocked off TCU’s Palina Dubavets, 6-4, 6-1 on court 4, followed by the match clinching point earned by Luicelena Perez, 6-3, 6-2 on court 6.

In extended play, Natalia Maynetto earned a 6-2, 7-6(7-6) for the Tide before TCU inked its only victory of the night on court 2, as Simona Parajova topped the Tide’s Danielle Spielmann in three sets on court 2. Ending the night was #25 Erin Routliffe who picked up a hard-fought 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 win on court 1.

Tonight’s match marked the final home match for the Alabama women’s tennis team until it hosts conference-foe Georgia on March 6. Following tonight’s tilt with TCU, Alabama will head to Charlottesville, VA from Feb. 6-9 where the Tide will appear in its third consecutive ITA Indoor National Team Indoor Championships. Following that tournament, the Tide will have a weekend off before taking part in the annual Blue Gray National Tennis Classic in Montgomery, leading up to the start of SEC play on Feb. 27 at Florida.
