CTO: Greetings Coach, you’re the defending champs, how do you think your team will stack up this year?

AB: Every year is a different year...and so much can happen between now and then...but I'm confident that our team will give it their all.

CTO: With multiple championships under your belt, I’m sure all the coaches out there would like to know, what is the secret?

AB: I don't know that there is a secret. But one thing we do on our team is try not to focus results, instead we focus on other things like: effort and attitude.   Of course winning always involves a little bit of luck too!

CTO: Tell me what a typical practice day is like for your team.

AB: We try not to make practice typical....so we keep things interesting for the players. Some days are very intense while others are more laid back and fun. There is always an emphasis on doubles work though.

CTO: What do you think it is about your coaching style that makes you so successful?

AB: I'm not really sure - one thing I do is focus on "team" - never on an individual.

CTO: What is your favorite method of off-court conditioning for your team?

AB: We have a strenght and conditioning coach who runs our conditioning. He's excellent and really makes the players work hard.

CTO: How do you enjoy spending your free time off the court?

AB: I love working in my garden and playing with my 6 year old yellow lab.

CTO: For any aspiring players looking to come to Emory, what advice would you have for them?

AB: Work hard in school. Take those AP courses and the SAT prep class. Getting in is one of the hardest things about Emory. As for the tennis, I recommend playing lots of tournaments and playing  doubles as much as possible.  Work on your net game - being comfortable at the net is huge in college tennis.
