The Alcorn Braves show their ability to play well on clay at the historic Sterns/Nehamia Adkins Tennis Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Braves got off to a great start against Xavier by dominating play in all 3 doubles positions. It was especially gratifying to see Time Verlin come in with an 8-5 doubles win with Philip Lwanga and a great singles win of 6-1 6-1 against John Gray of Xavier. The Braves only dropped two singles matches at the #1 and #5 positions to Miroslav Vukicevic and Visumzi Kempele of Xavier. Both players looked to be very much at home on the clay surface at the Sterns Tennis Center. The Braves cruised to a 7-2 win and Coach Dodgen commented " I am not too concerned about the 2 losses today as both players from Xavier looked much more comfortable on clay than Gates and Lwanga. I really thought Kempele looked to be one of the better players from Xavier and he proved it with a strong win over Philip Lwanga. It was good to be here at Stern's again and Lloyd Dillon made us feel right at home. It was good to see Lloyd as a fellow PTR pro who I had not visited in some years now. We appreciate his hospitality."
The Braves will play Jackson State at home on April 2nd and Grambling on April 4th.
