BOISE, Idaho - It was smooth sailing for 23rd-ranked Boise State as the Broncos cruised past the Marquette Golden Eagles 5-2 Saturday afternoon at the Appleton Tennis Center in Boise. Boise State won the doubles point, then followed with victories in the first four singles matches to clinch the victory up 5-0. Marquette did rally late grabbing wins in the final two matches of day. The Broncos extended their win streak to four matches and improved to 14-3 overall.
 
Andy Bettles and Thomas Tenreiro started things rolling for the Broncos in doubles tallying a 8-5 victory on court one over Marquette’s Dan Mamalat and Vukasin Teofanovic. Coach Patton switch things up a bit for doubles compared to previous lineups moving Bettles and Tenreiro up to No. 1. The tandem is now 11-4 in duals and 13-5 on the year as a doubles team.
 
He also played Garrett Patton and Nathan Sereke at No. 2 doubles where the duo defeated Logon Collins and Gleb Sklyr 8-3 to clinched the team point for the Broncos. In the third match he placed Toby Mitchell and Aidan Reid on court three where the tandem lost a tough one in a tiebreak 8-7 (6) to the Golden Eagles’ Nick Dykema and Cameron Tehrani.
 
Singles saw the Broncos begin by winning the opening set in five of the six matches. Brian Foley was the first off after quickly dispatching Marquette’s Gleb Sklyr in straight sets 6-3, 6-3 at the sixth position. Foley, a sophomore, is now 6-3 in duals this fall and 13-7 overall.
 
Not long after Foley’s win, Garrett Patton moved the Broncos to within one team point of victory with a hard fought two-set 6-3, 6-4 win on court four. Patton is now 8-6 in duals this spring and 15-11 overall.
 
The match clincher came from senior Nathan Sereke who battled hard on court two to put away Marquette’s Vukasin Teofanovic 6-2, 7-6 (5) to make the team score 4-0 Broncos. With the win Sereke improved to 10-6 in duals this spring.
 
The final match that went the Broncos way was on court five where Toby Mitchell claimed a straight-set victory 6-1, 7-6 (5) over Cameron Tehrani of Marquette. Mitchell improved to 5-3 in duals with the win and 13-7 on the year.
 
The last two singles matches of the day went to Marquette with Dan Mamalat defeating Boise State’s Andy Bettles 6-4, 7-5 on court one, while Logon Collins rallied to down the Broncos’ Thomas Tenreiro 1-6, 6-1, 6-4 on court three.
