Coach Patton: "The tennis court is the 'Board Room' for our team captain. Because of his dynamic leadership, blue-collar work ethic, a devastating, hard-nosed baseline game, and his ability to overcome the physical adversity of a major knee injury and surgery last year, there's no doubt that when 'The Grinder' meets 'The Donald,' Mr. Trump will have no choice but to smile and say, 'Your Hired'."

20 Questions With Beck Roghaar
Boise State Senior from Utah answers 20 "hot topic" questions.
(12/11/04)
Q: Who is your all-time favorite tennis player? Andre Agassi because he's so fiery, he's come back from a lot of adversity, he transformed himself, and he's showed great dedication to the game.
Q: Name your three favorite athletes. Kevin Garnet because although he was one of the first to come out of high school into the NBA, he kept his head. He's fiery and energetic, yet he's humble which makes him a good leader. I also like David Beckham of Real-Madrid in soccer and Michael Vick, quarterback of the Atlanta Falcons.
Q: Who is your favorite BSU athlete not on your own team? April Sanders, my girlfriend who runs cross-country and the mile for the BSU women's track team.
Q: If you could play anyone one-on-one, dead or alive, who would it be? It wouldn't be Roger Federer because the match would be over too fast. I'd probably choose John McEnroe to see if I could get under his skin a little bit.
Q: Who is your favorite sports team? The Indianapolis Colts. I like Peyton Manning, Edgerrin James, and Marvin Harrison—they just get the job done without a lot of showboating. I like that.
Q: What's your biggest weapon or best strategy in tennis? My biggest weapon is my desire to compete and win. I never quit. I would never tank a match. I pride myself on being a fighter on the court.
Q: What is your favorite sports movie? "The Power of One" in which Morgan Freeman plays a South African boxer.
Q: What is the best movie you've ever seen? "Gladiator"
Q: Who do you hang out with? Teammates Thomas Schoeck and Matias Silva, BSU fullback Brian Decker, BSU linebackers Ben Chuckovich and Chris Barrios,  and of course April, my girlfriend.
Q: What is your cell phone ring tone? Blink 182
Q: Roger Federer or anybody else? Roger Federer because nobody can touch him right now. It doesn't matter who they are.
Q: What was your most memorable road trip as a Bronco and what made it so memorable? The trip to Seattle for the National Indoors Tournament last January because it was the first time in six or seven years that we qualified. There was so much hype, it was so elite, and we were treated wonderfully, they put us in a great hotel. I just remember walking around downtown with the guys and having such a great time.
Q: What is your nickname? Matias was calling me "Fabio" for a while because of a shirt I wore in Sun Valley that he thought was very European. Mahmoud Rezk, who graduated last year, called me "S-Club" because my first name on my birth certificate is Sherman and somehow that reminded him of a club called "S-Club 7" that he used to go to somewhere. And coach Patton calls me Grinder. Oh, and some guys call me "Lachay" for the guy who's married to Jessica Simpson because my girlfriend April Sanders looks like her.
Q: What was your most thrilling athletic experience? Winning the WAC in 2003 was huge even though I was injured and couldn't play. Beating Fresno State in the first round of the WAC championships my freshman year was special, too, because we had lost to Fresno State two weeks before. Marcus Bernston and Mahmoud Rezk and I all won matches against guys we had lost to two weeks before. That was sweet revenge at an important time of the year with a lot of people watching and a lot of energy. And another great experience was when Mahmoud Rezk and I clinched the deciding doubles match in Tulsa against SMU in the next match at the WAC championships. There was a ton of people there, probably the largest crowd I've ever played in front on. We pulled it out 9-7 against their number one and four singles players. We just couldn't miss a ball, it was one of those matches when we were on and couldn't miss.
Q: What TV show can you not miss an episode of? MTV's Laguna Beach. It's what I call "The Real OC."
Q: What is on the heaviest rotation on your CD player/mp3 player? Mostly punk-rock—The Used, The Sound from Sweden, and Taking Back Sunday, a band from New York that I saw at the Warped Tour this past summer.
Q: Who is your celebrity dream date? April Sanders, the famous celebrity distance runner on the BSU women's track team.
Q: Tell us something about yourself that most people don't know. I'm an only child.
Q: Describe yourself in three words. Outgoing, driven, and fun.
Q: If you weren't playing tennis, what other sport would you play? Football. I love it but my mom wouldn't let me play her dad shattered his hip playing football and she was afraid I would get hurt. Our high school coach would call me every year and try to talk me into playing, but mom didn't want me to so I concentrated on tennis and golf instead.
