 Lauren Jones Spencer
  Lauren Jones Spencer is entering her second year as the assistant coach to the womens tennis team after serving for a year as a graduate assistant.

 

Jones began playing at BYU in the 2003-2004 season. As a freshman, she won 22 matches and went 13-4 in doubles play. During her sophomore season, She was named a member of the All-Mountain West Conference Team and was named MWC Player of the week for her performance against UNLV.

 

In her junior campaign, Jones was ranked No. 95 in the nation in singles and advanced to the singles main draw of the ITA All-American Championships. She and partner Dolly Chang were ranked No. 45 in doubles in preseason rankings. Jones was, again, named to the All-MWC Team in singles and finished the season winning nine of her 11 final matches.

 

As a senior, Jones was ranked No. 3 in the NCAA Central Region preseason polls. She and doubles partner Sofia Holden placed second in the Wilson/ITA Central-West Championships. She was undefeated at the MWC tournament and finished the season with her career best record at 25-13 on the year in singles and 23-12 in doubles. She also received All-MWC First Team honors in both singles and doubles.

 

Prior To BYU: Before BYU, Jones played junior competitive tennis since the age of 12. She finished No. 15 among 18-year-old girls in Southern Calif. and No. 63 nationally. Jones played at Capistrano Valley High School where she finished in the top eight in the league playoffs.

 

Family: Jones is married to Kirk Spencer.
