One of the most exciting players to watch this season will be Nairobi, Kenya native Tony Kiruki. Tony knows how to use his height to his advantage. He is solid in virtually every aspect of the game and when those skills are wrapped around his 6'4" frame, he can be a powerful player and a consistent winner in both singles and doubles. Tony is a Barton County (Kan.) Community College transfer where he had two very successful seasons prior to his coming to Drury this past fall. Last year Barton County finished second at the juco nationals and Tony was consistently ranked in the top five in the NJCAA rankings in both singles and doubles. Tony has represented Kenya in the Davis Cup and he is considered to be one of the best singles and doubles players in his home country. This past fall Tony and Javier Llanes teamed up to win the ITA Regional championships and that duo is currently ranked #4 in the NCAA-II national doubles rankings. With continued hard work Tony has the ability to be a great player at Drury and that ability will keep the Panthers a threat to win the NCAA-II national title this year and next.
