One of the Panthers’ top veterans and team leaders that will look to take his game and Drury to another national championship tournament appearance is Akos Tajta. Last season Akos finished the 2002-03 season with a 15-4 mark in singles competition and was 23-5 in doubles play. He has a career record of 22-7 in singles and 44-9 in doubles play. This experience over the past two seasons will make him one of the valuable assets to a very talented 2003-04 Panthers squad. Akos was 12-3 his freshman season in singles action and he helped provide the Panthers’ the depth needed to take the team to the finals of the NCAA-II national championships. Before his arrival at Drury, Akos was a finalist in the Hungarian national championships, was a Hungarian team champion, won the under-18 title and advanced to the second round of the European championships. He and Matias Oddone won the National small college doubles championship this spring.
