Blue Devils Selected to Host NCAA Regional

DURHAM, N.C. – The ninth-ranked Duke men’s tennis team will be one of 16 host sites for the 2013 NCAA Team Championships, as announced Tuesday afternoon by the NCAA.
 
The Blue Devils (22-5, 9-1) earned the No. 9 seed and will welcome Coastal Carolina (15-5), South Carolina (18-10) and UNC-Wilmington (18-4) to Ambler Tennis Stadium May 10-11 for the NCAA Regionals. The first match Friday, May 10 between South Carolina and UNC Wilmington will begin at 10 a.m., followed by Duke and Coastal Carolina at 1 p.m. The winners of the two matches will face each other Saturday, May 11 at 1 p.m., to compete for a trip to the NCAA Championships May 16-21 in Urbana, Ill.
 
Duke will host an NCAA Regional for the 22nd time in the program’s history and the fourth consecutive season. The Blue Devils own an overall record of 20-2 when hosting an NCAA Regional, including wins over George Washington and LSU last season to advance to the round of 16. Duke will be making its 22nd consecutive appearance in the NCAA tournament and owns a 41-22 all-time mark in tournament play.
 
Coming off its first undefeated, 13-0, mark at home during the regular season since the 2001 season, Duke will face Coastal Carolina for the first time in program history in the opening round of the tournament. The Blue Devils and South Carolina have squared off 45 times in program history with Duke leading the series, 28-17, while Duke and UNC Wilmington have never played in program history.
 
Singles and doubles selections for the 2012 NCAA Individual Championships will be announced Wednesday, May 1 on the NCAA.com.
 
Ticket prices for all NCAA Tournament matches are $5 for adults and $3 for students/seniors, and each ticket is good for all matches each day. Tickets can be purchased outside the stadium on the day of the match. Parking for all matches will be available in the Blue Zone, which can be accessed off Duke University Road.
