DeKalb, Ill. -- The Eastern Illinois men's tennis squads dropped their third consecutive road match, losing at instate foe Northern Illinois, 5-2, on Friday evening. The second straight 5-2 loss moves the Panthers to 2-4 on the early season.
Newcomers
Warren Race and
Justin Haag picked up the lone singles victories for the Panthers at No. 4 and No. 6, respective, with each winning in straight sets.
Senior
Jeff Rutherford lost a tight three-set affair at the top of the lineup, while three other Panther singles lost in consecutive sets.
EIU lost the all-important doubles point, as the Huskies took two of the three duos, with Haag teaming with
Vance Davis at No. 3, where they won a nailbiter, 9-8 (8-6).
