 Georgi Beloretchki
Asst Coach
Embry-Riddle (Fla.)

“Georgi embodies the spirit of Embry-Riddle tennis. He’s the epitome of a champion of character and everything you could ever want for an assistant.”  (Former Coach, Scott Linn)

After playing for Embry-Riddle for the last three years, Beloretchki joins the Eagles as an assistant coach. Beloretchki will bring a fresh experience of the game to help guide many of his former teammates to victory.

The leadership role should come easy for Beloretchki who was team co-captain his sophomore and junior years. Beloretchki was also the recipient of the ITA/Arthur Ashe Award for Leadership & Sportsmanship his junior year despite only participating in the fall tournaments. Beloretchki’s work ethic and drive to be great as a player are the same qualities Coach Linn tries to instill with his coaching beliefs and should translate to the players.

Whether it’s stringing rackets, helping to recruit new players, or working with players individually, Beloretchki is a huge mentor for the team. Always willing to give his all to the program, Beloretchki not only makes the people around him play better tennis, he makes them better teammates.

The impact Beloretchki has had on those around him can be summed up by the actions of Oliver Rettig last season. When asked to write why he should be nominated for the Embry-Riddle Champions of Character award, Rettig wrote about why Beloretchki was more deserving of the award instead of himself.

While playing for Embry-Riddle, Beloretchki held the No. 1 singles position and compiled a record of 27-25. However, doubles competition was the true strength of Beloretchki’s game. Paired with Jurriaan de la Beij in Fall 2001, the duo went on to the ITA National tournament and placed fourth in the nation. The following year, Beloretchki teamed with Nicolas Bousquet and swept the Florida Regional tournament while earning an ITA nationals bid. Beloretchki and Bousquet ended the fall run with a third place finish at the ITA nationals.

A native of Bulgaria, Beloretchki competed heavily in tennis while growing up. He was runner-up at the 2000 Bulgarian Tennis Championships and finished third in 1998. In 1993, Beloretchki picked up the doubles and mixed doubles crowns at the Bulgarian Championships.

Currently a student at Embry-Riddle, Beloretchki will complete his degree in Aviation Business Administration in the spring of 2004.
