Sophomore Year (2012-13):  Synn notched a 9-2 overall singles record and a perfect 7-0 Southern Conference mark, playing primarily in the fifth and sixth positions.   After dropping his season-opening match at #60 Clemson, he went on to win his next nine singles matches, including seven-straight league matches to conclude the regular season.  Synn picked up three-set wins versus Chattanooga and Samford and blanked Wofford, 6-0, 6-0.  In the opening round of the Southern Conference Tournament, he posted a 7-5, 6-0 victory versus Appalachian State.  In doubles play, Synn went 2-4 at flight three.  He teamed with Andrew Mellow for a 2-2 league mark.  The duo picked up wins at Georgia Southern and The Citadel.

Freshman Year (2011-12):  Synn appeared in four singles matches for the Paladins, recording a 2-2 overall record and 2-1 league mark. He posted two wins at number five singles, scoring a 6-3, 6-4 win over Georgia Southern and a 6-3, 6-3 victory versus The Citadel.  Synn competed at number three doubles for Furman, notching a 4-4 overall doubles mark and 3-3 doubles record against SoCon foes.  He teamed with Nate Collins for an 8-6 victory versus Georgia Southern then combined with Jacob Behal for regular-season wins over Davidson and Elon.  The Synn/Behal duo posted an 8-4 victory against UNC Greensboro in the opening round of the Southern Conference Tournament.  

Prep/Personal:  Synn played under head coach Bret Garnett at Hickory, where he was named the Catawba Valley Athletic Conference Player of the year and chosen team MVP.  The top ranked player in North Carolina in Boys’ 16s and 18s, Synn was honored as a 5-Star recruit by www.TennisRecruiting.net.  After winning the 3A singles regional title, he placed second in singles at the state championship.  Synn is a member of the National Beta Club and was Salutatorian of his graduating class.  Luke James Synn was born on September 11, 1992 in Augusta, Ga., to Jay and Susanne Synn.  His sister, Stephani, is a senior on the Davidson women’s tennis team.  Synn’s cousin, Jonathan Choi, also attended Furman.  He is undecided on his major
