Prep/Personal: A five-star recruit by TennisRecruiting.net, Juan Sheppard trained with coach B.J. Stearns at the Smith Stearns Tennis Academy in Hilton Head, S.C., where he was earned a ranking of 43rd nationally. The top recruit in both Connecticut and New England for six-consecutive years, Sheppard won the doubles competition at several national and sectional tournaments, including most recently the Denver Open Boys 18s and the Regional Boys 18s in Cary, N.C. At the Eastern Sectionals, he captured both the singles and doubles championship. Prior to his time at Hilton Head Prep, Sheppard competed for Greenwich High as a freshman in 2009, helping the team to a state championship and earning MVP honors. Juan Sheppard was born on July 27, 1993, in Montevideo, Uruguay, to Leonardo and Virginia Sheppard. He intends to major in economics.
