STATESBORO, Ga. – After dropping all three doubles matches, the Georgia Southern women’s tennis team rallied, taking 5-of-6 singles matches, to beat Bethune-Cookman 5-2 Saturday afternoon at the Hanner Fieldhouse Courts.

Bethune-Cookman swept the doubles point from the Eagles.  Kristi Kegerreis/Heather Reynolds dropped their No. 1 match-up 9-7 to Olga Ruislova/Kiara Powell.  At No. 2, Molly Maddox/Christine Caforio fell 8-4 to Lucia Polakova/Valerie Kendrick.  In the No. 3 slot, Jessica Matlosz/Jessica Fuller lost 8-4 to Monika Muislova/Jeneice Ward.

Maddox won her singles match 7-5, 7-5 over Ruislova at No. 1.  Kegerreis defeated Polakova 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 2 spot.  Reynolds rallied to take the No. 3 match 1-6, 7-5, 6-1 from Powell.  Shea Huxtable took the No. 4 match 6-0, 6-3 from Kendrick and Kelli Helms won the No. 6 match 6-4, 6-1 over Ward.  Emma Knight was the only Eagle to fall in singles action, dropping her match 6-2, 6-2 to Muislova.

The Eagles will face Charleston Southern Sunday at 11:30 a.m. at the Hanner Courts.
