HIROKO NISHIKAWA

Hiroko Nishikawa is in her second year as a Lady Hawk and will serve as a co-captain.

Hiroko who comes to HCC via Osaka, Japan, was born September 30, 1980 to parents Tetsuji and Tomoko and has a sibling Naoki. Hiroko has been playing tennis for 16 years. Hiroko is a very accomplished player having played competitive tennis in many ITF events. Hiroko has a highest world ranking of 1,095 in singles and 846 in doubles. Hiroko attended Shukugawagakuin High School in Japan where she was at least a finalist in every tournament.

Hiroko has finished as a finalist in both singles and doubles at the ITA Regional in Ocala in 2005 and as champion in both in 2006. Hiroko went on to play in the ITA Nationals where she was a finalist in singles (2005 and 2006) and won the Junior College Doubles National Championship with partner, Amanda Yogus in 2005 and Mizuho Nishimura in 2006.

Last year, Hiroko was a Second Team All-American in Singles and Doubles, ITA All-American, FCCAA Player of the Year, HCC Student-Athlete of the Year, and ITA Rookie of the Year.  She posted a 21-0 mark in the spring seaon in singles before losing in the NJCAA Singles Final and went 18-3 in doubles.
