Senior:  Before the fall season began, Hirn recieved a national preseason ranking of #68 in the ITA’s Top 100 singles players.  Hirn also recieved a bid to compete in the ITA’s Men’s All-American Championships in Stone Mountain, Georgia.  The lone senior won his 100th singles match of his collegeiate career opening weekend at the Ball State Fall Classic being the first Sycamore to do such a feat.  At Ball State, Hirn reached the finals in the “A” singles flight where he lost to teammate Vedran Vidovic in a hard fought three set match by a score of 2-6, 6-1, 6-3.
Junior:  Hirn was named MVC Player-of-the-Week for the week of April 16.  The Austrian won the #2 singles flight at the MVC Individual Championships.  His fall season was highlighted with his apearance in the finals at the Region V Individual Championships which earned him a spot at the Rolex National Indoor Championships where he reached the second round.  The unanimous selection to the MVC Scholar-Athlete First Team teamed up with sophomore Henry Choi to win the #3 doubles flight at the MVC Individual Championships.  Hirn ended the season earning All-MVC honors at #2 singles.  This marks  the third straight year Hirn has recieved such honors.  Hirn ended the season with a singles record of 34-9 giving him a Sycamore career record of 97-23 and giving him the school record for the most wins in his career.  In doubles action, Hirn spilt his time with Jonas Piibor and Henry Choi playing both #1 and #3 ending the season with a combine record of 27-13.
Sophomore:  Hirn finished the season with a team high 43-5 overall singles record.  Hirn was named
All-MVC at #4 singles and at #3 doubles along with teammate Adam Baranowski.  Hirn went
Undefeated in the MVC at #4 singles with a season record of 13-0.  Hirn was named to the MVC
All Scholastic Team with a perfect 4.0 GPA.  While battling illness, Hirn gave an inspiring performance at the Regional Team Championships by winning both singles and doubles matches and leading the team to victory.  During the National Indoors Hirn went undefeated during all 3 of his singles matches against #1 Stanford, #2 LSU and #16 Georgia. In the fall, Hirn claimed the Flight #1 singles at the Butler Invitational, and the Flight #2 doubles teaming up with Henry Choi.
Freshman:  Hirn posted a 20-9 singles record while playing at #4 during his freshman season.  Hirn had a spectacular 24-4 doubles record along with current Sycamore Assistant Coach and former teammate Peter Magnusson to earn the duo All-MVC honors at #3 Doubles.
Prep: Hirn was ranked #4 in his age group in Austria.  Hirn was ranked #70 for all men in Austria in 1998.  Hirn was named Austrian Shooting Star of the Year in 1992.
Personal: Stefan Hirn was born June 22, 1980.  Hirn is the son of Rudolf and Margarete Hirn.  Hirn's nickname is "The Brain".
