Junior:  O’Connell started the fall season off right with a strong showing at the Ball State Fall Classic.  At Ball State, O’Connell reached the finals in both the “B” singles flight and the “C” doubles flight.  In singles, O’Connell lost the final to Lance Vodicka 2-6, 6-2, 7-6 (5).  Meanwhile in doubles, O’Connell along with Mihajlovic lost to a tough Darke team 8-6.
Sophomore:  After a slow start in the fall, O’Connell came on strong and finished with an overall record of 23-14 in singles play. He was undefeated in the ISU Fall Classic with wins over players from Ohio State, Notre Dame, and Middle Tennessee State.  O’Connell qualified for the main draw at the Regional Championships.
Freshman:  O'Connell joined the Sycamores in the Spring season, however he still managed an unheralded finish in his first Sycamore season with an overall singles record of 14-1.
O'Connell was 10-1 in MVC action.  O'Connell teamed up with Jacek Wolicki at #3 doubles for a
record of 3-0.
Prep:  A former Irish national champion, O’Connell was ranked first or second nationally every year between the ages of 10 and 18.  O’Connell was a member of the 1998 Irish team that won the Four Nations Tournament versus England, Scotland and Wales.
Personal:  David O’Connell was born April 5, 1981.  O’Connell is the son of Kieran and Theresa O’Connell.  O'Connell's nickname is "Snake".
