HOUSTON-- Junior Julien Gauthier of the LSU men’s tennis team claimed the Flight A title on Sunday at the 52nd Rice Fall Invitational hosted at Jake Hess Tennis Stadium.
“For Julien it was a great start to the season,” LSU head coach Jeff Brown said. “We look forward to bringing other people to tournaments and getting the fall under way. We are ready to get back and work hard.”
Gauthier defeated Artem Baradach of Southern Methodist in a straight-set victory 6-3, 7-6 (4) to win the first title of his collegiate career.
As fall tournament competition continues, the Tigers will once again hit the road as they trek to the D’Novo All-American tournament hosted by the University of Tulsa at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center with pre-qualifying rounds beginning October 3.
