METZ, France -- Former LSU men’s tennis player Ken Skupski and partner Colin Fleming garnered a spot in the final of the Open de Moselle after they blasted through the semifinals and defeated German duo Philipp Kohlschreiber and Philipp Petzschner 6-1, 6-4 on Friday.
“Ken is just one step away from his ultimate goal of winning an ATP event,” LSU head coach Jeff Brown said. “This win should serve to give both Ken and Colin confidence as a team going into competition, knowing they belong at the highest level.”
Skupski and Fleming defeated Frank Moser and Christophe Rochus 7-6, 6-1 in the opening round of doubles competition and moved on to edge out Christopher Kas and Rogier in the quarterfinals, 6-3, 3-6, 11-9.
Skupski, a three-time All-American at LSU, earned the spot in the semifinals only one week after he jumped into the ATP’s top-100 individual doubles players at No. 98.
The former LSU standout and Fleming will face either French duo Arnaud Clement and Michael Llodra or Germany’s Rainer Schuettler and Mischa Zverev on Saturday’s final in Metz.
