TAMPA, Fla. ---LSU men’s tennis junior Stefan Szacinski knocked off ranked opponent USF’s Wael Kilani Saturday to advance at the USF Invitational in Tampa, Fla.
Szacinski put together a tough pair of victories to defeat No. 104 Kilani in straight sets, 6-4, 7-5, on the Varsity Tennis Courts.
“I thought Stefan did a really good job competing today,” head coach Jeff Brown said. “He found the energy and his game after a tough fall and was able to compete at a very high level today.”
Tom Knights, David Roberts, Matt Zachary and John Michaelis all dropped their singles matches.
Tournament play continues Sunday at 9 a.m. ET and will conclude the Tigers' final tournament of the fall.
