Friday, 01/06/2012
KEY BISCAYNE, Fla. --- Eight Tigers from the No. 33 LSU men’s tennis team are set to begin 2012 season play on Friday as they travel to the Key Biscayne Invitational in Key Biscayne, Fla.
Seniors Tom Knights, David Roberts and Neal Skupski, juniors Roger Anderson, Olivier Borsos and Stefan Szacinski, sophomore James Turbervill and freshman Chris Simpson all made the trip for the Tigers.
Seven out of the eight Tigers will compete in singles. Skupski will only participate in doubles play.
The No. 28 Tiger tandem Borsos and Simpson look to prove themselves and live up to their new ITA ranking on the courts against some tough competition.
“We have been practicing well in Baton Rouge and look forward to the competition we will face in Florida,” head coach Jeff Brown said. “It should be a good team building trip.”
No. 19 Texas, Michigan, Virginia, Denver and Miami also made the trip to Florida.
Tournament play will begin for the Tigers on Friday at 10 am ET on the courts of the Tennis Center at Crandon Park.
