General – Two-time returning letterman...2004 tri-captain...transferred from University of Kansas after his freshman year...was born December 8, 1981 in Kansas City, the son of Rob and Marcia Metzler...has two brothers and one sister… his grandfather, Robert Metzler, played football for Notre Dame...nicknamed “Metz”.

As a Junior -- Tied for the team lead in singles wins with 24 in posting a 24-17 record...was 13-6 in tournament play and 12-6 overall against ACC opponents...led the Tar Heels with four match clinching wins...went 13-11 overall in doubles play, playing mostly with Geoff Boyd and recording an 8-6 record...started the year with seven straight wins...also had a six match singles winning streak near the end of the season...won his flight championship in singles at the Top of the Hill Kickoff Collegiate Classic and the Groot Memorial Invitational...went 3-1 in prequalifying at the All-American Championships.

As a Freshman (at Kansas) – Ranked #11 in doubles play and #16 in singles in the central region … Big XII Conference runnerup in #6 singles and #3 doubles … finished second on the KU team in singles wins … awarded men’s tennis scholar athlete of the year award as a freshman Jayhawk… made the Dean’s List both semesters of his freshman year.
