General —Three-time letterman...2003 co-captain ...heads into the season ranked #17 nationally in singles, #3 in the region… son of Phillipe and Joelle Meniane. As a Senior -- Went 5-1 in the Omni Hotels Mideast Championships to advance to the finals, beating two ranked opponents along the way...earned a bid to the ITA Indoor Nationals where he upset #27 Rameez Junaid of Auburn and #30 Roger Anderson of Georgia Tech to advance to the quarterfinals...that’s the farthest any UNC player has advanced in that tournament since 1993.

As a Junior -- One of the top players in the nation last season...was #118 in the final ITA singles rankings...finished the season with a 26-11 singles record...played most of the season at #2 singles, going 11-7 at that spot...finished the year 24-9 overall in doubles...was 16-6 with Daniel Pinchbeck including 12-4 in dual matches...also went 6-2 with Geoff Boyd...went 5-3 in tiebreakers...clinched four matches including the ACC championship match victory over Georgia Tech...the highest ranked opponent he beat was #58 Michael Yani of Duke, 7-6, 6-2.

As a Sophomore – Finished with a team-high 20 wins in singles … ACC #4 singles runnerup in 2001… was 6-2 in ACC dual match play in the #4 flight … posted a 16-7 doubles record overall… teamed with Chad Riley to win the ACC #3 Doubles Championship with a 5-2 record … earned four wins during ITA All-American Pre-Qualifying.

As a Freshman—Finished as the runnerup in the ACC Flight #5 singles…posted a singles mark of 21-12 … his 21 singles victory were third best total on the team…also tied for the team lead in tiebreaker wins with seven...won nine singles matches in three sets, including comebacks in four matches after he had lost the first set…clinched the Tar Heels’ upset over #16 VCU with a 7-6, 6-7, 6-1 win over Mats Norin…rallied to beat Marko Gojanovic 6-7, 6-3, 6-2 in UNC’s 4-3 victory over Clemson in the ACC Tournament semifinals…earned one of UNC’s two wins against Tennessee in the 2nd round of the NCAA Tournament…went 10-7 in doubles play…teamed with junior David Cheatwood for seven of his 10 doubles wins… won three matches with Cheatwood to earn a spot in qualifying for the ITA All-American Championships…earned a position on the ACC Academic Honor Roll.

Prep — A 1999 graduate of the Palmer Academy in Tampa, Fla. … He played tennis, soccer, basketball and cricket there … Received the 100% effort award in 1998.
