McLean gained experience with a 6-4 singles record and a 3-1 doubles record in his first year at Ohio State.
Magee Secondary School McLean competed on the Canadian Junior circuit because his high school did not have a team ... captured third and fourth in the 1999 and 2000 Canadian National Outdoor Championships, respectively ... also was a semifinalist in doubles at the 2000 national tournament ... was the captain of the Western Canada Games Gold Medal Team ... was honored with the Sportsmanship Award at the 1999 Canadian National Indoors.
