Ohio State Career 2003-04 (Senior) Contini was an integral force in doubles action for Ohio State … went 21-12 overall in doubles … had 16 wins at the No. 3 doubles position … compiled 78 career doubles wins in four years as a Buckeye … tied with former Buckeyes Roger Smith (1983-86) and Derek DeFalco (1997-01) at the No. 3 spot for career doubles wins in program history … was 12-5 in duals competition with partner Dennis Mertens … was 7-4 against Big Ten opponents with Mertens … started in three dual matches at the Nos. 5 and 6 singles positions … undefeated with three singles victories in duals competition … was 6-3 overall in season singles … awarded the Buckeye Award by the OSU coaching staff for his team dedication. 

 

2002-03 (Junior) Contini went 18-11 in singles ... undefeated at the No. 6 position with seven wins, had a 7-7 mark at No. 5 and was 1-0 at the No. 4 slot ... compiled a 15-7 singles record in duals and was 5-3 against Big Ten opponents ... has 57 career doubles victories including a 42-18 career doubles record in dual action ... received Big Ten player of the week accolades after his efforts against Michigan State and Michigan March 14-15 … awarded the “Shock Award” by the coaching staff for most break through wins.         

 

2001-02 (Sophomore) Contini closed out his second season with the Buckeyes with a 6-5 singles record and 19-10 mark in doubles ... concluded the year with a two-year OSU career singles record of 19-9 and a career doubles mark of 31-11 ... posted a 15-8 tournament record in singles.

 

2000-01 (Freshman) Contini posted a 13-4 record in singles and held a solid 12-1 record in doubles action ... went a perfect 8-0 with partner Jon Scale as the duo captured the Toledo Rocket Indoor Flight A championship with an 8-6 defeat of fellow teammates Derek DeFalco and Martin Johansson (10/14/00) ... Scale and Contini won 5-of-8 matches by an 8-3 count or less ... in singles, Contini fell to teammate Ben Kirksey, 6-2, 7-5, in the Flight B championship match at the Toledo Rocket Indoor (10/15/00) ... also advanced to the quarterfinals of the Big Ten Indoor Championships Flight B (1/14/01) ... captured the consolation final of the Kentucky Winter Slam Tournament (1/21/01) with an 8-4 decision over UK’s Todd Scheck.

 

Dover High School Contini was a four-year starter for the Dover Tornadoes … finished fourth in the Ohio High School State championships at No. 1 singles as a freshman … coached by older brother Ryan … played basketball his sophomore year and was a four-time scholar-athlete.
