Sanford is in his second year as a member of the Pearl River Wildcats. He is the son of Weatta Mitchell of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and Lee Roy Sanford of Batesville, Mississippi. Sanford was a member of the Forest County Agricultural High School tennis program before coming to Pearl River last year where he had a successful freshman season at the number four singles position. He ended th year 10-7 and was a state semifinalist. During the fall, Sanford competed in the 2009 Wilson/ITA Southern Championships.
