WICHITA, Kan. - The No. 20 Purdue women's tennis team picked up another ranked win as the Boilermakers knocked off No. 45 Kansas State on Sunday. Purdue won the doubles point and three singles matches en route to the 4-2 victory.

Purdue (4-1) swept all three doubles matches.  Gisella Pere and Imogen Golder got things started. The seniors dominated Amina St. Hill and Gema Bolado-Yusta, 8-3, at No. 3. Krisztina Kapitany and Mara Schmidt clinched the doubles point with a victory at No. 1. The duo knocked off the No. 26 doubles team in the country of Petra Nierdermeyerova and Karla Bonacic, 8-6. Daniela Vidal and Lynda Xepoleas completed the sweep with an 8-5 win at No. 2 over Ivana Kubickova and Carmen Borau Ramos.

Kansas State (4-3) evened the score with the first singles match. Nierdermeyerova, the No. 17 player in the country, knocked off Xepoleas, the No. 105 player in the country, 6-4, 6-3. Schmidt gave the Boilermakers the lead for good with a nice win at No. 2. She knocked off Bonacic in straight sets, 7-5, 6-4 to give Purdue the 2-1 lead. Kapitany, back in the singles lineup after a match off, picked up a win at No. 5. The freshman seemed to be in control throughout the afternoon and knocked off St. Hill, 6-1, 6-4.

The Wildcats clawed within a point of Purdue with a three-set win at No. 3. Kubickova hung on to defeat Vidal after dropping the first set, 3-6, 6-4, 6-2. Tess Bernard-Feigenbaum clinched the match for Purdue for the second-straight week. The freshman defeated Ana Gomez Aleman in a close match, 7-5, 7-5, at No. 4. Pere's singles match was abandoned once Purdue clinched the win.

The Boilermakers are right back in action on Monday. The women will face No. 65 Wichita State at the same venue as they played today. The Shockers fell to Kansas State earlier this weekend, 4-2. Monday's action is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Live scoring will be available at PurdueSports.com.
