Umbers is a talented junior who possesses the best hands on the team. A second team All-Sunshine State Conference selection in both singles and doubles in 2003, he had an excellent fall, going 5-2 and reaching the finals of the Varner Invitational. Umbers is an excellent doubles player, who with Andrew Groslimond, went 12-3 last year. During the fall season Umbers and Groslimond went 4-2 and reached the semifinals of the ITA/Omni Small College Southeast Regional. Umbers was named SSC Player of the Week once during 2003. As a freshman, he went 10-4 while playing at the number three position. Teamed with Carlos Custodio to go 5-2 and earned an all-conference nod in doubles. Umbers was one of the top junior players in England.
