 Phil Bayliss
Joining the Saint Joseph's tennis coaching staff for the 2009-10 season is recent SJU graduate Phil Bayliss. He will serve as a graduate assistant to head coach Ian Crookenden.

Bayliss is a former team captain for the Hawks, donning the Crimson and Gray from 2005 to 2009. He won 40 singles matches in his career, ranking him ninth in program history.

As a freshman, his 21 singles victories tied him for the second-highest single-season win total in Saint Joseph's history. He also notched 20 doubles wins that year. As an upperclassman, Bayliss played in the top doubles flight and secured 20 career victories against the opposition's top duos.

Bayliss earned numerous accolades after his senior season as he was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team and the Philadelphia Inquirer/PhillySIDA Academic All-Area Team in 2009. In addition, he was chosen as the All-Area Academic Performer of the Year by the Philadelphia area's sports information directors.

During his high school years, Bayliss was a three-time YAIAA doubles and a two-time YAIAA singles champion. He posted a 43-1 record across his sophomore and junior years and led Dallastown Area to the 2004 Pennsylvania state title.

A native of York, Pa., Bayliss graduated from Saint Joseph's in 2009 with a degree in management.
