The St. Cloud State University women's tennis team (1-0) opened its season with a big 7-2 victory over NSIC rival Winona State in Winona, Minn. on Friday, Feb. 12. 

SCSU gained five wins in singles play and collected two wins in doubles action to ace the Warriors.  Seniors Jacque Doll (#1 singles) and Kelly Freese (#2 singles) each brought home victories for the Huskies and the pair also gained an 8-1 win at #1 doubles.  Kayla Lenz (#4 singles), Catatrina Franca (#5 singles) and Tanya Halloran (#6 singles) all gained wins, while Lenz and Franca also posted a win at #2 doubles.

SCSU will complete the trip to Winona with a match against Bethany College on Feb. 13.
