2000-01 (Senior): Ranked a career-best 43rd (up 36 from the preseason) in the ITA Fall Singles Rankings (Dec. 12). Also 32nd in doubles with long-time partner Ali Ansari. Kicked off 2001 by teaming with Ansari to win the doubles title at the Sherwood Collegiate Cup... Completed the fall with an 8-2 singles record and 5-4 doubles mark (w/ Ali Ansari). At the ITA All-American Championships, advanced to the third round of the main draw after moving through the qualifying draw with a pair of straight set victories. Upset then-39th ranked Paul Podbury of Tennessee 7-6 (8), 7-5 in the second round of the main draw. Advanced to the singles quarters of the ITA Indoor Qualifying/Regionals at Berkeley. Also advanced to the doubles quarters of the ITA Regionals w/Ali Ansari. Tri-captain with fellow seniors Ali Ansari and Alex Kim. Over the summer, advanced to the doubles semis of the ITA National Summer Championships with Cardinal teammate K.J. Hippensteel. Ranked 79th in the 2000 ITA Preseason Singles Rankings. In the 2000 ATP end-of-the-year rankings, finished tied for 1474th in doubles. Reached the doubles quarters at the Berkeley Futures. Posted summer wins over Hippensteel and North Carolina's Tripp Phillips (2000 NCAA Singles Quarterfinalist).
1999-00 (Junior): Finished the season 22-7 in singles and 25-5 in doubles (24-5 w/Ali Ansari), and played a big role in Stanford's national team title run. Earned NCAA All-Tournament Team honors in singles. Broke into the ITA Singles Rankings for the first time at a season-high No. 77 on Mar. 15. Went 20-5 in singles duals - mainly at No. 5 - and 20-3 in doubles duals. Spent the majority of his time at No. 3 singles (10-3) and No. 3 doubles (10-5). Played No. 5 singles in the NCAA Championships, and finished the year with a 7-0 record in that slot. Won nine of his final 10 singles matches. Recorded the clinching victory in three of Stanford's six NCAA Tournament wins, including a 7-5, 6-1 win in the national championship match over Virginia Commonwealth's Mats Norin that sewed up the national title. Also had the deciding victory in the semifinals vs. Florida and the first round vs. Northwestern. Upset then-79th ranked Jean-Julien Rojer of UCLA 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (10-3 tiebreaker) to help the Cardinal pull out a 4-3 win over the Bruins in the National Team Indoor Finals on Feb. 27 in Louisville. Went 9-2 in duals against Pac-10 opposition. Advanced to the third round of the ITA Regionals in Seattle. With Ansari, advanced to the Pac-10 Invitational doubles final in Ojai in April. Teamed with Ansari to win 10 straight doubles matches from Mar. 22-Apr. 15. The duo upset then-25th ranked Nic Losee and Carlos Lozano of BYU on Mar. 22 (8-4). Advanced to the doubles quarters of the ITA Regionals w/Ansari. Over the summer, qualified for seven professional futures events, and posted victories over No. 1 players from Duke and Virginia Tech.
1998-99 (Sophomore): Pac-10 Invitational doubles finalist with David Hauser. Reached the quarters of the Pac-10 Invitational Singles Championship in Ojai. Clinched Stanford's upset over No. 1 UCLA on Apr. 17 with a three-set win at No. 5 singles over Jong Min Lee. Competed with both Ali Ansari and Hauser at No. 3 doubles. ITA Regional quarterfinalist in singles and doubles (w/Ansari). Over the summer, reached the semifinals of the Nike Championships... Reached the quarterfinals of the Stead Open... Reached the second round of the Los Angeles Satellite Segment. 1997-98 (Freshman): Semifinalist at the Pac-10 Invitational... Posted a perfect 10-0 dual match record... Member of the official postseason eight-man roster... Won two matches at the ITA Regionals.
Prior to Stanford: 1997: Singles finalist in the Easter Bowl Doubles Championship... Singles quarterfinalist at the National Clay Court Championships... Ranked first in Northern California in 12s, 14s, 16s and 18s... Winner of the Northern California Junior Sections in 12s, 14s, 16s and 18s... Named Most Valuable Player in the Private School Athletic League (PSAL)... Central Coast Section Doubles Champion... Graduated from Pinewood School in nearby Los Altos Hills, and grew up in Belvedere in Marin County. 1996: Ranked eighth nationally... Finalist at the Easter Bowl Championships...
