AT TECH: (2001-2002) - Gernot used his sophomore season to stake his claim as one of the best players to ever wear the Puprle and Gold...earned Tech's highest national ranking when he was listed 91st on the national singles ranking...closed out the year with a 29-11 singles record, the highest wins total on the team...jumped out to a 3-1 record on the season and went to 7-3 on the year with a stunning victory over Tennessee's Michael Maddux...also claimed victories over Louisville's Sebastian Aspillaga, Kirk Jackson of Middle Tennessee, Lewis Smith of Vanderbilt and Mason Cousins of Ole Miss...turned on the heat and pushed his record to 14-6 with a victory over Lavaughn Monroe of Florida A&M...won 16 of his final 21 matches, including winning streaks of six and seven matches...teamed up most of the season with Razvan Ilie to form Tech's No. 1 doubles, winning 16 matches...(2000-2001) - Making the most of his opportunity is an understatement when talking about Gernot’s first season at Tech...burst onto the scene to grab the No. 1 singles position...finished his rookie season with a 14-8 record in singles and a 10-14 ledger in doubles...earned all-OVC honors...opened the season with a 2-2 record and followed that with consecutive wins over nationally ranked Jarrod Owen of Florida State and Lenin Mongerie of Florida A&M...had two winning streaks of three matches and closed out the season by winning three of his final four matches...played doubles with Marco Schmidt and Piotr Wawrzyniak.
