JUNIOR YEAR (2006-07): Gomez traveled to Lexington, Ky. with fellow Golden Eagles Tiago Gilioli and Borja Zarco to compete at the 2006 Wilson/ITA Region III Indoor Tournament. He dropped the only match he played, 7-5, 6-2, to Miami’s Josip Rupena. The following spring Juan Pablo played most of his matches at the number 5 position, although he did also play at 3 and 4. At number 5 he posted a 7-8 record, and finished the season with an overall 7-17 in singles. In doubles Juan Pablo saw success with teammate Louis Steyn, as they posted a 5-6 record, going 5-3 in OVC play

SOPHOMORE YEAR (2005-06): Juan Pablo helped get his team to an OVC tournament title as well as an appearance in the 2006 NCAA Regionals. Gomez was defeated by Texas’ Michael Venus in his first NCAA tournament singles game, 6-1, 6-1, and paired with Will Chappell in his doubles defeat. His overall record for his second year as a Golden Eagle was 22-27. Gomez went 16-14 in singles action and recorded a 6-13 mark in doubles play

FRESHMAN YEAR (2004-05): Gomez compiled a 14-27 overall record in his first campaign as a member of the Golden Eagle tennis squad, including a 6-13 singles mark as well as going 8-14 in doubles action

BEFORE TECH: Gomez attended La Salle High School where he helped lead his team to two district and one regional championships. He was the No.6-ranked tennis player in Columbia in 2002. Gomez participated in the Prince Cup, the Eddie Hert, and the Orange Bowl in 2002
