TOPSPIN: Simon is looking forward to finishing out his collegiate career with a bang...he transferred from the University of Arkansas two summers ago after playing one season for the Razorbacks and sitting out one season as a medical redshirst...has an excellent ground game...is an Andre Agassi-type player...very powerful groundstrokes...very effecient swing and very accurate from both sides...hits with heavy topspin...can make the backhand passing shot...needs to work a little bit on his serve, looking to build his power...accurate hitter...quick enough to cover the court well...can hit from the baseline or come to the net...a good doubles player, communicates well with his teammates...could challenge for the top spots in the starting rotation, but should play somewhere in the middle of the lineup...used last year as a learning year and showed much improvement in such a short time...works extremely hard on physical conditioning...one of the most fit players on the team...this could be Simon’s year...a hard worker and will be asked to show leadership this season...AT TECH: (2000-2001) Simon had a slow start which included many tough losses against great competition...closed out the fall playing in the No. 2 singles position...finished the season with a 16-18 singles slate and a 10-16 doubles tally...tied for most singles wins thisseason...won his final seven matches of the season, highlighted by a key victory over Andrew Martin of Illinois State... worked hard to improve his doubles play...plays very well against the top players in the country...finished the fall very strong...played doubles with Luis Aguerrevere and Piotr Wawrzyniak...(1999-2000) Wasn’t able to live up to his potential...was plagued by injuries but has shown the desire to work to overcome them...worked hard on his rehabilitation...used the season as a learning year and showed much improvement...closed out the season with a 20-23 overall record...finished 13-13 in singles competition and 7-10 in doubles...AT ARKANSAS: Posted a 6-3 overall record as a freshman in the tough Southeastern Conference in 1997-98...an injury forced him to redshirt the 1998-99 season before his transfer to Tech...HIGH SCHOOL: Simon graduated from Cardinal Roy High School...ranked sixth in singles and fifth in doubles among juniors in Canada...also played hockey and golf...PERSONAL: The son of Richard Larouche and Dominque Tremblay...birthdate is July 8, 1980...majoring in industrial engineering.
