About me: My name is Abraham Cantu and I am looking to transfer to a University and would like to be considered for a scholarship to play for your team. I attended Our Lady of the Lake University and played for their tennis team on a tennis scholarship. I am currently not attending the university but to continue to play college tennis and finish my degree at a different university. I have heard a lot about your team from students at a tennis camp I attend and I am very interested in possibly playing for your team. In high school I graduated Top 10% at number 19 with a 3.5 GPA and the time I attended Our Lady of the Lake University I had a 4.0 GPA and was on the Dean's list as a Scholar Athlete. In high school I was the number 1 singles player for 3 years and was also the number 1 doubles player as well. In USTA I was in champs Boy's 14s, 16s, and 18s, but never got to level up due to financial issues so we could not travel very far. I would descried my game as aggressive baseliner but I am comfortable all court. My strengths are my groundstrokes, especially my backhand and my serve out wide. the technique to my serve does need some work and any changes you would suggest for me to do to make my serve better, I will gladly correct to be a part of your team and generally a better tennis player. I am very passionate about tennis and coming from a small town I try my very best at all times. I took this semester off to train and get better, mentally and physically. I weighted around 225-230lbs and now I weight 170lbs, I have also enhanced my game quite a bit. I have changed my forehand take back to make it more fluid and smooth and have strongly added serve and volley to my game, I have also have added more speed to my serve and makes it even more effective. I was taught from my family and coaches to never give up or suffer from a lose but to learn from it and move forward.
